"Die Halle Komakatado und die Brücke Azumabashi". Über das Zeltdach der quadratischen Halle Komakatado blicken wir über den Fluss Sumida bis zur Brücke Azumabashi vor dem Stadtviertel Asakusa. Als eigentlicher Blickfang ist die an einem Mast im Wind flatternde rote Fahne vermutlich von einem Kosmetikladen. Ein grosser schwarz-weisser Vogel fliegt mit geöffnetem Schnabel durch die grauen, tiefhängenden Regenwolken.

"Komakata Hall and Azuma Bridge". Beyond the tent roof of the square-shaped Komakatu hall we see the broad expanse of the Sumida River with the Azuma Bridge on the far left close to the Asakusa district. The focal point is a red flag flattering in the wind which belongs to a cosmetics shop. A black and white bird screeching with its open peak is flying in front of the low, grey rain clouds. Lesser Cuckoo (hototogisu) and Komakata Hall in the print allude to a 17th-century love poem attributed to Takao II, courtesan and lover of Date Tsunamune: Are you now, my love, near Komakata? Cry of the cuckoo!"
